First one today:

Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust

Doubt I'd ever buy it on CD, so the $1 Thrift Shop find is great.

It is a great album. Pop Rock.

He's alive Smile Not normal for you to be so quiet.

Listening to it with the A-534?

Now onto the Amadeus Movie Soundtrack.

Dual 601, P-307, MSA-80 SS Amp, RBS-2 (Vifas).

it was funny the other day. i was at the store and i haven't got all the tube gear there yet and i was setting up gear. i brought out the TT and and put Yes Fragile on. they wanted to know if that was my vintage gear. i started laughing and said no. they looked confused and said but thats a turn table. some people just dont get it.

Cold, wet, snowy day in Georgia--yes, I said snow.

So, today's been a day for some nice jazz--Kenny Dorham and lots of different classical LPs. Good music for a gray wintry day warmed up nicely by my B-283 tube processor!

Did an estate sale last weekend and grabbed 28 classical records, all mint for $9, lots of Beethoven and 2 sets of Boston Pops collections of 10 albums each.

Oh and in case you didn't notice I have an Opera 5.0 MkII, Opera ST-600 and a DynaVector Karat 17D3 matched TT system to play it on, but of course continuing with my adventures in getting back into vinyl, we had sold out of our P-307 and Rachel had sold my last demo unit, so I could only watch it go around in circles. A customer felt pity on me and lent me his, but sure enough, not enough gain for 17D3, but still sounds awesome. The matching Opera Phono-stage arrives this week !!! Smile

wordherder62, snow in Georgia eh ?

Cheers,
Ian

Heads up HMV had vinyl at the Scotia Center this week and Play (lancaster Bldg) has been adding to it's collection every week.
Heritage posters new location is a real treat 14th street and 11 th ave SW. Vinyl is really alive but still tiny in comparison to the digital storage age.

I have only listened to the first album and I really enjoyed it. When I read the liner notes I saw Turrentine, Burrell, Hancock on many of the cuts. This is a great compilation of the best jazz from the biggest jazz decade.
I have track 3 "Chitlins con carne" on Burrells Midnight Blue Album but my album is a very used copy that I got at Recordland. So dirty I had to wash it in the sink! The track On your copy was pristine and sounded really full "tonally rich", great imaging and the images seemed more solid
than my copy. I will have to compare later.
I would never have heard most of these cuts if I was just looking for specific artists But the big names were just young guys playing session work on many of these songs.

Cheers,
Ian

I have not tried ripping only because I haven't set up my computer with good software to do the ADC. Let me know what you are using.

I always have used E-mu soundcards, they are the premiere pro products, excellent DAC's and ADC's and very affordable, Audiophiles only need the E-mu 1212, just over $100 US usually and the bundle lite software is an amazing bonus for understanding audio

ZZ Top, AfterBurner, awesome and never had it on CD, so how long has it been since I heard it? Makes me thirsty Smile

Opera Consonance Droplet 3.1, ST-100 Tonearm, PM-8 Phono Stage, DynaVector DV Karat 17D3 MC cartridge.

Still need to dial it in a bit, but need to give my ears a chance to get used to this much fun again.

Dire Straits - Private Investigations on now. Reference LP material Smile

Cheers,
Ian

Best of BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) good old Canadian Rock, bright and thin of the top, very cool having adjustable VTA on the fly Smile to soften up a bad pressing and make it listenable.
Cheers,
Ian

Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964 to 1971. Picked up a super nice copy, basically zero ticks and pops on the Opera Droplet 5.0 with ST-600. I always loved the Stones music , but the recordings were not my cup of tea, this album does show off the sound they were after.

Cheers,
Ian

Alan Parsons - I Robot. One of my favourite electronic artists. This is a great one and again with the Droplet 5.0 no clicks or pops and tracks great. I actually have ripped Alan off a lot with the title, calling much of what I do I Project and then my handle on forums is usually iGrant, iPod came many years after Smile

Cheers,
Ian
