Hi,
I'm wondering if there any pro comparision between this tubes TJ full music 300B/n and 300B/c, since the general review on this forum don't compare both.
My amp is an Audio Note Kit One (300B SET integrated) and I'm using a CV181 NOS Mullard tube driver (some says that it is important this tube position if we are thinking on the meshies) and I need, for the first time, 300B replacement.
I'm a little concern about the tube longevity, besides it's musical and sonic characteristics. Some says that the meshies has a shorter life, etc.

I did a little review on the forum here comparing all of our 300B tubes, in our A-534B amp, which uses EL-34 driver tubes

The older TJ mesh plates had a shorter than expected life, that was fixed a few years back and now we have the MKII version of the TJ's.

The C is a carbon plate, the N is the mesh plate, the SE is a carbon plate but has the air of the mesh plate, the SE is a very special tube, one of the best available at any price.

With the any mesh plate power tube, I'd be matching it with a warmer or romatic tube like the Mullard, but you might want to try the new Shuguang Treasure CV-181, it is a stunning tube and would also be anexcellent choice as a driver tube.

Thanks so much for your post.
yes I have read your review, but you does not compare the 300B/n over the 300B/s in a direct rolling so I miss the difference or streght/flaws of the one against the other.
For this moment, the SE is out of my budget, unfortunelly.
Regarding the CV181, well, not at this moment. I also have at least 3 NOS 6SN7 waiting, but the actual Mullar is the best I thin. Of course, I will get a taste of the Shuguang in the future.
Finally, how we can distinguish a mark I mesh plate than a mark II? Still the 300B/c has a longer life that the mesh mark II?

Hi Beto,

Our forum is actually now over at AudioKarma.org. This one will be up a while longer.

I did roll between the TJ 300B/C and 300B/N a few times and the C is a different tube. I even gave recommendations at the end as to which tube I would suggest where. I don't know if anyone has gone into more detail than that.

I'll ask Rachel if there is any physical difference between the new and old, she may have to ask TJ or may know herself.

Sonically, the C (carbon plate) is a nice tube, but doesn't have the air of the mesh plate(N) or the SE, this is a great tube for very open systems that might be a bit too much nose and not enough chest type thing. I think the mesh plates are wonderful fun and for the price hard to beat. The SE is just special and rivals any 300B ever made, the Shuguang Treasure 300B is my all round favourite 300B, probably the most musical tube I have heard.
