"I can honestly say that this CD player is the best I have heard anywhere near this price point and should satisfy the most discriminating listener"

"For the first time in my life I have not missed my 10,000 LP Collection. I began playing CDs I hadn't played in a number of years, some I'd listened to only once because they didn't grab me. Every CD I played grabbed me. It didn't matter whether it was the really early Blue Note CD reissues or those RVG remasters, I spent hours more than I should have listening to music".

Reviewed by Kent Johnson of Positive Feedback:

"I am very impressed with this CD player. I like it a lot and would recommend auditioning it to anyone with a roughly $1000 budget who is seeking the absolute best sound quality he or she can find. It is going to be very expensive finding a CD player that clearly improves upon it."

The CD-327A uses a Sanyo pickup with a Phillips SAA7824 servo. At critical points, MCAP, Solen and ELNA components are used. Amplification is provided by the Burr Brown OPA2604, known for its smooth sound and wide frequency response. The CD-327a has a coax digital output and one set of RCA (tube) outputs.

The custom Bur Brown 192/24 bit DAC chip is capable of reproducing the audible range of vinyl records. The up-sampling can be defeated or selected directly from your remote control. You have the option of selecting the frequencies of 44.1 kHz, 88.2 kHz or 176.4 kHz to optimize your system performance.

Two 12AX7 tubes gives the CD-327a its smooth sound. French Solen output capacitors and aluminum isolation feet round out the features of this high fidelity component.

Grant Fidelity CD-327A's chip design allows for filtering, conversion and up-sampling in one single chip. The special low pass filter contributes to the pure and natural tonal quality that breathes new life into every CD. Like other Grant Fidelity products the CD-327a boasts an exceptionally quiet power supply.

CD-327A Demo at CAM

Doing a comparison with the Cary and Grant does reveal some minor weaknesses but this is a $950US player compared to a $4000US player. The bottom end of both the Cary and Grant are tight and well controlled although the presentation differs between the two.

Customer decides to keep it after 5 days audition

Although our in-home audition program allows potential customers to try out the unit for 21 days, one customer has decided to keep it after 5 days audition. Here is what he says:

"Hi Rachel I have been very impressed by the 327-A! It is superior to my old Arcam unit. I will obviously be keeping the player.... Thank-you for your prompt service and shipping. We will do business again!" - Jason D., Nov 4th, 2008
