The LIU turntable is a beautiful design with styling cues from the well-known Chinese Forbidden City in Beijing. The quality is appearant at every stage, the concept is designed to last forever, everywhere you look is a new feature. The sound quality of the LIU will make your vinyl collection very happy.

Features of the LIU Turntable:

Forbidden City LIU is a more cost effective version of Opera's award winning top-of-the-line Droplet LP5.0 turntable to fit a medium budget. We suggest that you equip you Forbidden City LIU with Opera's own specially designed tone arms, ST100 or ST600, both of them are a perfect match with the turntable.

The LIU turntable inherited the precision stainless steel bearing, AC motor drive system and concept of sandwich structure sub chassis from the flagship Droplet LP5.0 turntable, with a one-piece machined black acrylic platter and well designed sub chassis which features the use of graphite in a cost effective way, to give real value for the price.

LIU skillfully achieves the goal of complete vibration absorbtion through a double layer graphite spindle holder working as a sandwich hard damping system, which has also been applied to ST100 tone arms spindle fixing. The melding thick aluminum plate ‘floats' by graphite rings which gives this turntable exceptional stability dissipating unwanted vibrations. This turntable comes with a German AC motor in its own separate chassis independent from the sub chassis, and the whole system sits on 3 stainless steel adjustable balancing feet to ensure the deck is precisely level.

Stainless steel bearing is outsource machined by a company who solely caters the Chinese Aerospace industry, which just recently sent astronants walk in the space, to achieve watch grade precision ( ± 0.01mm ) and finish.

It's a floatation bearing design that suspends the platter on a highly rigid industrial ceramic ball bearing and a highly rigid industrial ceramic cushion to reduce friction.

Turntable specifications:

Wow and Flutter: Less than 0.2
Rumble: Greater than 80dB down
Speed accuracy: Within 0.01%

What EnjoytheMusic.com say about LIU turntable?

 - by show reporter Rick Becker on Salon Son & Image 2009, Montreal:

"One of the items that caught my eye was the large Consonance Droplet turntable, but the one that created lust was the gorgeous Consonance Forbidden City. (Nothing like being "forbidden" to create lust, right?) The plinth, machined out of solid aluminum, is designed after the architecture of the Forbidden City. The Chinese red anodized color, punctuated by small faint green squares in a grid layout created one of the most stunning designs I have seen in High End audio. The turntable with its one piece machined black acrylic platter driven by translucent fishing line is $2200 US and the Opera Consonance carbon fiber ST-100 Tonearm shown on it is $750 US. The ST-600 tonearm is available as an upgrade for $1800 US. Graphite is used in critical junctures of the turntable for the absorption of vibration." (read full show report here
